6 days, 5 nights
hiking, hotsprings, yoga

Iceland! Welcome! Velkomid! to dramatic, wild, untamed Iceland - land of fire and ice, geothermal rivers and milky lagoons, pounding waterfalls, black sand beaches, rugged coastal cliffs and raw beauty.

We begin our trip in the capital city of Reykjavik soaking in the thermal waters of The famous Blue Lagoon then enjoying delicious Icelandic foods at Lava restaurant and residing at the beautiful Silica Hotel.

From there we travel to Hveragerdi  - one of the most geothermally active areas in the country with hot rivers and steaming pools where we stay and explore this wild countryside for a couple nights.  We hike out of Hveragerdi to the beautiful Nesavellir Valley to our eco-conscious hotel near Thingvallatur Lake - the largest lake in Iceland.  We spend our day hiking Thingvallir National Park and visiting the powerful Gullfoss - golden waterfalls.  A final beautiful hike and transport to the cosmopolitan and lively edgy city of Rejkavik will complete our adventure.

A Typical Day in Iceland

Sunlight filters into the room through the mountain peaks to waken to the quiet and inspiration that a morning meditation creates for the day ahead. A bountiful breakfast buffet of local fresh fruits, eggs, breads, muesli and cheeses awaits to nourish and support hikers  as we put boots to trail 8:30am for the challenging trek though alpine forests and pasturelands climbing in elevation to our mountain hut for lunch rewarded for our hard work by majestic snow covered mountains a beer and locals cheeses and meats breads. The afternoon hike descends through the beauty of fresh mountain air, sound of cowbells, fields of wildflowers to our beautiful mountain village arriving at our cozy hotel where a most welcome afternoon yoga stretch opens and soothes tired tired feet and legs. Space for showers, saunas and steam -sauntering into town to explore shops into the sweet village, postcard writing follows before a cocktail and our delicious 4-5 course meal around 7pm. Time for a glimpse at the dark starry night skies then off to our cozy beds as we tuck ourselves in with warm down pillows and duvets surrounded by the comforting presence of the mountains and the quiet night air.
